Ready to Race at Age Nationals

The next Olympic and Paralympic cycles are well and truly underway after the rush and hype of 2021, and our next generation of Funkettes are ready to make their mark. From April 11-18 at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, the Australian Age Championships will play host to the nation’s top tier of young swimmers.

With the 2022 Junior Pan Pacs postponed to 2026 and the 2022 Junior Worlds cancelled, there are no significant international competitions on the horizon for our junior swimmers this year. Isabella Vincent is our sole para F-Teamer and the age nationals will be a chance for her to stamp her authority.

F-Teamer Iona Anderson's eyes are firmly fixed on the meet at hand with the 16-year-old Breakers WA swimmer entered in a colossal 7 events in Adelaide. With limited opportunities to contest the best in the nation over the past three years, Iona will be eager to shine. Her busy schedule will feature the 50/100/200 Backstroke, the 100/200 Freestyle, the 100 Butterfly and the 200 IM.

Isabella Vincent was one of our favourite stories from the 2021 Paralympic Games. Also at just 16 years of age, Izzy quickly rose to fame with two podium performances in Tokyo. The para international racing schedule is a busy one with the World Championships and Commonwealth Games on the 2022 calendar, and this meet will be another stepping stone towards more future success for Izzy. With a large program like Iona, she will contest an enormous 9 events in the 3-day para program from April 11-13.
